DNSB Review:

5 stars

If you love Highland Romance, I would definitely recommend, The Highland Duke. When Akira, a healer from the village, is walking through the battlefield checking bodies to see if they are breathing when she comes across a man laid out from an injury to his thigh. Not wanting to let this woman know who he really is, The Duke of Gordon introduces himself only as Geordie. Knowing that he would be arrested for treason for fighting against the Queens army, Geordie has Akira procure a horse so that he can head back to his home.

Hounded across Scotland by a Redcoat bent on arresting him, Geordie, with Akira in tow, sets off home. Along the way, the two wary souls get to know one another. Though Geordie knows that he can never marry, his wife making that happen when she demanded a divorce from him so she may become a nun, he falls for Akira. Akira, once she finds out who he really is, knows that the two would never be able to wed because she is a Gypsy.  I couldn't wait to see how this book would go. I needed to know if Geordie would be caught by the Redcoats on his tail, would Akira’s family situation be bettered by her having met Geordie. What would happen next was running through my mind for most of the read. I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series. Ms. Jarecki has a new fan.
