Review: Wishing For You

Wishing For You Wishing For You by Mayra Statham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

***** April's 5 Star Review ***** 5 Dreams and Screams

Bohemian artist, Shelly Santiago has had a fulfilling career, amazing friends, and great family. There's only been one thing missing in her life: someone to share it with. At fifty-six, she thinks her time has come and gone for finding love.

Straight-laced gallery owner, Grant Alexander, knows that even with the tragedy of losing his wife ten years ago, he’s been blessed with a great life and career. The only thing that’s been bothering him is the promise he made to his late wife before she passed.

Side by side, Shelly and Grant have worked together for years. Nothing ever more than friends, and sometimes not even that. As complete opposites, what happens when they start to realize the building attraction they feel for one another? Will they jump into the possibilities of more or will they keep one hand up and their own hearts guarded? Will Grant be able to keep his promise to his late wife? Will Shelly get what she’s always wished for?

I absolutely loved this book. Since the death of his wife Olivia Grant spends most of his time with younger woman after woman. Grant’s promise he made to his late wife never leaves his head or heart. The other half of his time he's with his best friend/co-worker and neighbor Shelly. They have such great times together. After he lost his wife it was Shelly who made sure he didn't loose himself. She really was his best friend until one day she was so much more. It takes Grant 10 yrs. to see what was right in front of him. But, should he say anything and ruin everything if she doesn't feel the same way...

Shelly has never been in love. She just watched her best friend Jess fall back in love with an old flame. She also watched her best friend loose his. Shelly wonders if she'll ever fall in love. Shelly is happy with her life. She loves the time she gets with Grant. They are such good friends. Then one afternoon everything changed. Grant wasn't just Grant. He was so much more. Shelly was so confused by her sudden feelings for Grant. Shelly's not sure if she should act on her feelings for him or just keep them to herself.

I really did enjoy this book. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I am so glad it was this one. If there were two people who deserved to have an HEA it is Shelly and Grant. I can’t wait to see what else this author comes out with.
